As you may or may not be aware, as of 3rd January 2012, new regulations come in to effect in regarding the London Emission Zone. Heavy commercial vehicles that are not Euro 4 compliant will not be allowed to enter to zone, or if they do, they will be faced with a £200 per day fine!
Companies who currently run vehicles in and around this area that may be affected by these regulation changes, are faced with a number of options.
Do you upgrade your vehicle to a New Truck or Newer Used Truck that complies with the regulations, or if you want to keep your current vehicles, do you look at the LEZ replacement emission systems that are available?
DAF, Dinex, Green Urban, Eminox, Astra – these are but a few of the makes and manufacturers that are providing ‘solutions’ when looking to keep your soon to be non-compliant truck on the road. Which one is best, will depend on your individual requirements, primarily being what make and model of truck(s) you run.
The best advice is not to leave your decision too late if these new regulations are going to impact on your business, as lead times on new vehicles may increase, and it is always likely that operators who want their older trucks to comply with the regulations may leave the modifications to the last minute. Start thinking today about what will suit your business. Is it time to renew your truck fleet? Is it time to start budgeting for the impact from the new legislation and get a quote for your existing vehicles?
If you are unsure if the new LEZ regulations apply to you, why not enter your vehicle registration on the LEZ Compliance Checker.
